Elanora State School is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dynamic Head of Department (Curriculum) to join its leadership team. This position provides the opportunity to shape the school's culture, curriculum, and pedagogical practices, with a focus on curriculum,
assessment, and signature pedagogical approaches. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, along with proven leadership and communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. Collaborating with the wider Leadership
Team, this role will play a key part in supporting the diverse learning needs of students and promoting effective literacy and numeracy practices across the school.

About the Role

As the Head of Department - Curriculum, you will lead the curriculum in alignment with school and departmental initiatives, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning across P-6. You will foster positive relationships among students, teachers, and stakeholders, and play a key role in facilitating collaborative planning meetings with teachers, focusing on the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum. The successful candidate will bring experience and strong interpersonal skills to support staff through coaching and capability building, with a particular emphasis on improving reading outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a motivated leadership team.

Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department (Curriculum), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a Whole School Approach to Reading aligned with the Department's commitment to teach reading consistently using an evidence-informed approach.
  • Lead the development and enact processes to embed and quality assure the three levels of planning and assessment across P-6.
  • Support staff through coaching and capability building.
  • Manage the human, financial and physical resources of the curriculum areas to achieve learning goals.
  • Lead the collation, analysis and actioning of student data to drive priority improvement.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
