Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy medical practice. Prior experience in medical reception or administration is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls, manage appointment bookings, and handle patient enquiries.
  • Process patient registrations, update records, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Manage billings, Medicare claims, and EFTPOS transactions.
  • Assist doctors and nurses with administrative tasks as required.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, organised, and welcoming.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and faxes.
  • Follow clinic policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional presentation and a friendly, caring attitude.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with Best Practice or similar medical software.
  • Knowledge of Medicare billing processes.
