About the Opportunity

Are you a strategic and compassionate nursing leader ready to shape the future of integrated care? South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 (NUM2) to lead the Triple I Central Intake Service – a dynamic team at the heart of community health access, and part of the Keeping Well in Community (KWIC) directorate.

Triple I serves as the central referral hub for Primary and Community Health services (P&CH) across SWSLHD. As NUM2, you will provide operational and clinical leadership, oversee referral coordination, and ensure the delivery of safe, timely, and culturally responsive care.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing service undergoing significant transformation. You will play a key role in:

  • Driving system change to improve customer and staff experience.
  • Optimising digital systems and call management processes
  • Strengthening referral pathways and patient navigation
  • Managing resources to support high-quality, person-centred care

We are looking for a leader who brings:

  • Proven experience in managing nursing teams and services, with a focus on safe, coordinated care delivery.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams, including escalation and documentation practices.
  • A commitment to critical thinking, professional conduct, and continuous improvement in line with district governance.
  • Strategic leadership and systems thinking to support integrated, community-focused care models.
  • A passion for improving health outcomes through innovation, service coordination, and patient-centred care.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
  • Describe your senior nursing experience, including examples of how you have led staff and managed services in a relevant clinical setting. Highlight your approach to fostering a positive team culture and driving service improvements.
  • Provide examples of how you have effectively managed human, physical, and financial resources to ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive care. Include any strategies used to optimise resource allocation and maintain service quality.
  • Can you share examples of how you have identified and responded to care needs through collaboration, including your approach to communication and engagement?
  • Outline your approach to maintaining professional relationships, managing conflict and performance issues, and applying critical thinking in unit management. Include evidence of your involvement in risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
