Senior Development Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to lead the end-to-end development of renewable energy projects across Australia. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can manage multiple workstreams, and enjoys collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for driving the strategy, planning, and execution of utility-scale renewable energy developments. You will oversee all aspects of project development—from land and environmental assessments through to stakeholder engagement, planning approvals, and preparing projects for procurement and financial close.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership
- Lead the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects from feasibility through to pre-construction.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, risk registers, and resourcing plans.
- Oversee conceptual and preliminary project design, coordinating internal and external technical specialists.
- Negotiate and manage land agreements with support from legal advisors.
- Monitor and guide environmental assessments and planning approval processes.
- Coordinate engagement with communities, landowners, councils, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Support grid connection activities and manage interactions with technical advisors and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to commercial workstreams including power offtake processes, tender preparation, and financial modelling updates.
- Support procurement, contracting, and preparation for financial close.
Portfolio & Business Support
- Assist in the identification and assessment of new project opportunities or potential acquisitions.
- Contribute to the refinement of internal development processes and systems.
- Mentor junior team members and help foster a collaborative, positive team culture.
- Stay informed on industry policy, regulatory changes, and market trends; contribute to submissions where relevant.
- Represent the organisation at industry meetings, events, and forums.
About You
- Degree in Engineering, Planning, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience within the energy or infrastructure sector (renewables preferred).
- Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- High level of initiative, analytical thinking, and organisational ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; GIS or mapping experience is an advantage.
- Australian working rights and driver's licence preferred.
