Castleross Construction is a civil contractor specialising in complex infrastructure projects across Australia. We deliver high-quality FRP and precast concrete works and are known for our hands-on approach and strong site delivery. Due to project growth, we are looking to expand our team and are currently hiring Concreters, Steelfixers and Formworkers to help deliver major projects across Perth.

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Concreters, Steelfixers, and Formworkers to join our team and work on a range of high-profile construction project across Perth. You will be directly involved in all aspects of the FRP construction process, from setting up formwork to placing steel reinforcement, and pouring and finishing concrete.

Key Responsibilities

Formworkers

• Interpret and work from construction drawings, formwork designs, and set out points to build formwork accurately.
• Construct and install formwork for a range of concrete structures including footings, slabs, walls, columns, pits, culverts, and headstocks.
• Erect and dismantle conventional and modular formwork systems (e.g. PERI, Doka, RMD, etc.) safely and efficiently.
• Install edge forms, rebates, kickers, chamfers, cast-in components, and block-outs as per drawings and pour sequence.
• Conduct pre-pour inspections and rectify issues to ensure readiness for concrete placement.
• Strip formwork without damaging finished concrete surfaces, patch any tie holes or imperfections if required

Steelfixers

• Accurately read and interpret reinforcement drawings and bar schedules.
• Lay out and install reinforcement bars and mesh in accordance with set-out and construction tolerances.
• Tie bars using appropriate tying wire, reels, or mechanical tools to ensure secure placement.
• Ensure correct bar placement including lap lengths, spacing, cover, bar sizes, and bar mark identification.
• Install prefabricated cages or mats where applicable, ensuring lifting is carried out safely.
• Coordinate with formwork and concrete crews to ensure steel is installed in line with pour sequences and program.

Concreters

• Assist with set out and preparation of formwork, reinforcement, and pour areas in accordance with construction drawings and specifications.
• Place, screed, vibrate, and finish concrete to required levels, tolerances, and surface finishes (e.g. broom, trowel, non-slip).
• Operate and maintain concreting equipment including walk-behind and ride-on trowel machines, screeds, laser levels, and concrete vibrators.
• Ensure concrete placement meets specified tolerances for line, level, and finish.
• Coordinate closely with Formwork, Steel Fixing, and Pumping crews to ensure seamless delivery of concrete works.

Riggers

• Set up, inspect, and use rigging equipment (slings, shackles, spreader bars, lifting beams, chains, etc.) in accordance with lift plans and manufacturer specifications.
• Safely rig, direct, and land loads including precast units, reo cages/bundles, formwork systems etc.
• Work closely with crane crews, spotters, dogmen, and supervisors to ensure safe lifting sequences.
• Interpret lift plans, permits, and engineer instructions to prepare for complex lifts.
• Conduct pre-lift checks on gear, slings, and loads to ensure compliance with weight limits and angles.
• Tag out any defective or out-of-certification lifting gear.
• Apply load charts, lifting radius principles, and rigging configurations.
• Ensure exclusion zones and barricades are established and maintained.
• Participate in critical lift planning, including toolbox talks and safe work briefings.
• Maintain lifting gear logs and assist with inspections, testing, and certification compliance

Adhere to safety procedures and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment for all site personnel.

Qualifications & Experience

• Strong experience in civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of reinforcement installation practices and tolerances.
• Strong knowledge of civil formwork systems and techniques.
• Proven experience in pouring, screeding, and finishing.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• At least 3 years' experience in the civil construction industry.
