An exciting opportunity for an experienced policy adviser to join a top talent and diverse policy and legal team at the centre of Australia's financial markets. This role offers the exciting opportunity to work on both capital markets regulation and the adoption of new technology in managing critical financial market infrastructure.

  • Develop and communicate policy and regulatory positions that support organisational strategic objectives, and the growth and integrity of Australian capital markets, including by drafting submissions in response to Government consultations

  • Perform complex regulatory and public policy analysis with a focus on the delivery of solutions that are consistent with company-wide positions and that address the needs of customers

  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders across the business, including senior management, in developing policy positions, and ensuring that ASX's policy recommendations are commercially practical and operationally sound

  • Monitor and brief senior management on financial sector policy issues and trends, including timely reporting of key domestic and international policy and regulatory developments, and when relevant, provide strategic policy advice and risk assessments on emerging regulatory issues and reform agendas

What you will bring:

Must have

  • 8-10 years' experience in senior roles providing regulatory and public policy advice, with experience in the public service or a large regulated organisation

  • Experience in financial markets and services

  • Degree qualified in economics / commerce / legal discipline, with strong academic and professional qualifications

  • An ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with people at all levels and across different organisations

  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to understand and synthesise complex ideas and issues, and communicate difficult concepts to a broad range of audiences

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to critically assess complex policy issues

  • The personal drive required to quickly get across new policy and regulatory issues, and their impact on the business and the market more generally

  • Proven ability to work independently on complex policy projects and deliver strategic outcomes

  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills to coordinate internal policy positions and drive regulatory outcomes

Nice to have

  • Deep knowledge of the Australian regulatory landscape (e.g., RBA, ASIC, ACCC, Treasury), and familiarity with international frameworks (e.g., IOSCO, BIS, OECD) is highly desirable

  • Strong industry networks across the financial services industry and/or policy making environments

  • A willingness to continuously improve and learn
