Apprentice Mechanical Fitter / Field Service Technician

Ammann is a market leader in the road construction machinery, asphalt plant and concrete plant sectors, with fully owned subsidiaries and distribution offices across the world.

With further expansion of Ammann Australia's asphalt and concrete plant service team, we are seeking a reliable Apprentice to be part of our growth strategy and learn the craft with mechanical, electro-mechanical and pneumatic system maintenance, on our OEM equipment.

Candidates must be pursuing or eligible for a Mechanical Fitter qualification as this is the specific trade qualification required for this Field Service Technician role.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and reliable individual that has a passion for Mechanical repairs, be hands-on, highly flexible and willing to travel intra-state, interstate and / or internationally. This person will also need to have a clean driving record and their own reliable transport from Home to Caboolture or Brisbane airport.

The role would best suit a candidate that is very flexible and prepared to work away from home on an ad-hoc basis and at short notice.

As part of the requirements for the job, the role may consist of mechanical tasks working at heights of up to 40m, confined spaces and working around high temperatures, therefore the candidate shall be physically fit and able to conduct such tasks. Of course, all necessary training courses and tickets are provided to undertake such tasks during the apprenticeship.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, your duties & responsibilities will include but not limited:

  • Compliance to all Safety Requirements and Training.
  • Delivery of site mechanical works on equipment such as conveyors, bucket elevators, aggregate screening plants, mixers, screw conveyors, pumps and pneumatic cylinders.
  • Assisting with new asphalt plant installation projects where required.
  • Fault finding Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical and Pneumatic systems.
  • Process support and diagnostics, often using Ammann as1 control systems.
  • Building customer relationships and upselling the Company's products and services
  • Liaising with existing internal and external clients

Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A general understanding how to read and work to technical, pneumatic and OEM maintenance manuals.
  • Completion of Year 11, with some trade related subjects being completed or equivalent Certificates in construction or mechanical trades subjects.
  • Have a QLD drivers license and own transport.
  • "Ideally" Should reside between Northern Brisbane Suburbs to Sunshine Coast
  • White Card is a MUST
  • Safety licences including EWP, Confined Space, Working at Heights, and Forklift can be obtained after hiring during the apprenticeship period.
  • General understanding of latest legislative requirements in high-risk work, along with solid personal commitment to working safely.
  • A positive "can do" attitude.
  • An ability to multitask and work to deadlines.
  • A want to learn and be committed attitude to successfully complete the trade certificate
  • Efficiency orientation, seeking best use of resources
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office suite.
  • An Australian Citizen or permanent resident with rights to work in Australia.
