- Drive strategic growth, community impact, and regional transformation.
- $260K + Super + FMV + House + Relocation Assistance
Be the driving force behind Cloncurry's next chapter of growth, innovation, and regional prosperity.
About Council
Cloncurry Shire Council is a progressive, community-responsive organisation located in the heart of Queensland's North-West. With a strong financial position and a commitment to continual improvement, the Council delivers a wide range of services including infrastructure, water and sewerage, childcare, aerodrome operations, saleyards and vibrant community events. The Council is led by a Mayor, and five Councillors, supported by an experienced Executive Team.
Cloncurry itself is a region of opportunity—rich in history, culture, and economic diversity. With a population that's grown by 20% and a capital works budget quadruple of many larger councils, Cloncurry is a place where things happen.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing Council with a strong reputation for delivery and innovation. As CEO, you will be responsible for the overall management of the organisation, ensuring alignment with the Corporate and Operational Plans, and driving strategic initiatives across infrastructure, economic development, and community services.
You'll work closely with the Mayor and Councillors, lead a capable Executive Team, and represent Council in key stakeholder relationships. Major projects include the Scar Street redevelopment, airport upgrades, and the transformation of the John Flynn Centre. The role offers a unique chance to influence regional prosperity and community wellbeing.
About You
Renowned as a dynamic and strategic leader you have a proven track record in executive management—ideally within local government or a governance-focused organisation. You bring strong commercial acumen, people leadership, and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
You understand the importance of community, culture, and service delivery. You're ready to push boundaries in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, and you thrive in environments where innovation and agility are key. Whether you're an experienced CEO or a Director ready to step up, your maturity, intellect, and drive will set you apart.
Why this Role
Live Well: Cloncurry offers a fantastic lifestyle with excellent schools, health services, and recreational facilities. The CEO house is one of the best in Western Queensland.
Lead Boldly: Council is financially strong, with a culture of delivery and a community that embraces progress.
Make an Impact: From major infrastructure projects to community events, your leadership will shape the future of the region.
Enjoy the Package: Competitive salary, rent-free housing, private vehicle use, relocation assistance, and professional development support.
