Are you passionate about supporting young Aboriginal people to grow strong in themselves, their relationships, and their choices?

SHQ is seeking a Female Aboriginal Educator to join our team in a part-time, term-time only role. This is a 50D identified position, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women only, in accordance with Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

The Role

You work as a member of the Education and Development team, taking a key role in promoting the sexual health and wellbeing of Aboriginal peoples. ('Aboriginal peoples' is used here to include Torres Strait Islander people). Comprehensive training will be provided to develop your sexual health education skills.

SHQ is seeking expressions of interest from Aboriginal community members to join our team of Aboriginal Educators. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a culturally respectful, strengths-based education program that supports young people aged 10–15 to build resilience, healthy relationships, and informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing.

About the Aboriginal Educator

Mooditj is a comprehensive relationships and sexual health education program developed by SHQ in collaboration with Aboriginal people across Western Australia over the past 20 years. It is designed to be delivered by local community members working in pairs, with at least one Aboriginal facilitator.

The program includes three parts:


• Mooditj Me – Building strong identity, emotional wellbeing, and pride in culture.


• Mooditj Mates – Developing respectful friendships and communication skills.


• Mooditj More than Mates – Exploring healthy intimate relationships and sexual health.

Your Role as an Aboriginal Educator

As an Aboriginal Educator, you will:


• Co-facilitate engaging, culturally safe sessions with young people.


• Build trust and connection with participants, schools, and community partners.


• Support young people to explore identity, relationships, and wellbeing in a positive and empowering way.


• Promote pride in culture and respectful decision-making.


• Travel is required frequently, both Regionally and Nationally.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from Aboriginal people who:


• Have experience working with young people (e.g. in education, youth work, health, or community services).


• Are comfortable / confident talking about relationships, feelings, puberty, and sexual health in a culturally appropriate way.


• Are passionate about empowering young people and strengthening communities.


• Are comfortable working in a team and co-facilitating group sessions.

Comprehensive Training in the Mooditj Leader Program will be provided.
