Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a
multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Risk Tolerance Manager in Canberra to work on MIWS projects
.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Lead risk planning, engagement, and coordination with the Department's stakeholders to ensure effective risk management.
Deliver detailed project risk reporting, highlighting progress, emerging trends, and opportunities for mitigation or improvement.
Ensure quality assurance of all documentation, focusing on accuracy, clarity, and consistent narratives in briefs and reports.
Oversee delivery group activities, commercial and sustainment progress, and conduct regular performance reviews.
Manage Directorate project risks and risk-treatment plans, coordinating across functional teams to align with strategy and available resources, while maintaining comprehensive Risk Management Systems.
What You'll Bring
Advanced Risk Management Expertise
: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive risk planning, engagement, and coordination with diverse stakeholders, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively.Strong Reporting and Analytical Skills
: Experience delivering detailed, insightful project risk reports covering progress, emerging trends, opportunities, and risk-treatment strategies to inform decision-making.Attention to Documentation Quality
: Skill in providing quality assurance for risk-related documentation, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and clarity in briefs and reports that represent the Department professionally.Leadership in Oversight and Coordination
: Capability to oversee delivery groups, commercial activities, and sustainment programs, driving performance reviews and harmonising risk-treatment plans across functional teams.Proficiency with Risk Management Systems:
Demonstrated experience maintaining and utilising risk management tools and systems to track project progress and ensure alignment with strategic objectives and resource availability.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
