Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Social Worker Grade 1 or Grade 2 to join our growing team on a full-time ongoing position.
We are seeking applications from both early-career practitioners and experienced practitioners. This role provides the opportunity to deliver person-centred, trauma informed, and culturally safe social work services to patients, families and carers across a diverse range of hospital settings.
You will play a key role in psychosocial assessment, counselling, discharge planning, advocacy, and interdisciplinary care. Depending on your level of experience, you may also contribute to student supervision, team monitoring, and service development initiatives.

The role of the Social Worker is:
- Deliver high-quality, trauma informed and culturally safe social work services.
- Undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify risks, strengthens and social determinants impacting care and recovery.
- Provide counselling, advocacy and support for patients and families facing complex issues including trauma, family violence, mental health, substance use, child safety, grief and loss.
- Facilitate safe, timely discharge planning through coordination within internal and external supports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical reviews and family meetings.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Hold a Bachelor or qualifying Masters in Social Work and eligibility for full Australian Association of Social Workers membership.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
- A commitment to person-centred, trauma informed and culturally safe practice.
- The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities.

Medical and radiation oncology are offered by the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.
Now is an exciting time to join the LRH team, with the $223.5 million expansion completed in March 2024, offering improved maternity and paediatric facilities, larger intensive care unit, increased medical and surgical beds and additional operating theatres.
