About Us

Just Reinvest NSW works alongside Aboriginal communities to explore and establish justice reinvestment initiatives aimed at reducing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in the criminal justice system. Through place-based, community-led, and data-driven approaches, we focus on creating better outcomes for young people and strengthening community self-determination.

Mounty Aboriginal Youth and Community Services (MAYCS) is an emerging organisation that will continue this important work in the Mt Druitt community.

The Opportunity

The Business Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring MAYCS's financial accountability, compliance, and operational effectiveness. You'll lead the organisation's core business functions including Finance, People & Culture, IT, and compliance, ensuring operations run smoothly, transparently, and in line with legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.

You'll provide both strategic leadership and hands-on management to embed sound systems, policies, and processes that strengthen organisational sustainability and risk management.

About You

You're an experienced business or operations leader who's passionate about building strong, community-based organisations. You're comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on delivery, and you thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and payroll oversight
  • Strong understanding of compliance, risk, and governance in a not-for-profit or community setting
  • Experience in HR management, including policy development, workforce planning, and recruitment
  • Proven ability to develop and implement systems and processes that improve efficiency and accountability
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)

Please note: You will initially be employed by Just Reinvest NSW while MAYCS is being established. While the role will eventually be based in Mt Druitt (with hybrid arrangements to be agreed), you will initially need to attend our Redfern office 2-3 days a week as well as the Mt Druitt office.

Whilst Aboriginality is not a requirement for this position, you must have appreciation and respect for working in an Aboriginal-led community-based organisation.
