Tasting Room Assistant

Permanent part-time (0.8 FTE)

Giant Steps is a benchmark Yarra Valley winery, renowned for world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We are seeking a Tasting Room Assistant to join our Direct to Consumer team and help create unforgettable guest experiences that bring the Giant Steps story to life.

This role supports the Tasting Room Manager in delivering premium hospitality and leading engaging tastings, while also helping to keep the Tasting Room running smoothly day to day. It's a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about wine, loves connecting with people, and thrives on creating memorable moments for guests. Weekend work is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Welcome and host guests with warmth, professionalism and attention to detail
  • Lead premium tastings, tailoring each experience and sharing the Giant Steps story in a way that resonates
  • Actively promote wine sales through engaging storytelling and genuine service
  • Support Wine Club activities: encourage sign-ups, assist with member shipments, and ensure members feel valued and at home
  • Assist with Tasting Room operations including bookings, POS transactions, packaging and shipping logistics
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation across the Tasting Room, ensuring a consistently welcoming and brand-aligned environment

Skills & experience

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in hospitality, wine service or a related customer-facing role
  • Strong knowledge of wine and genuine enthusiasm for sharing it; WSET Level 2 or equivalent desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of guests
  • Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
  • A natural storyteller with a passion for delivering memorable hospitality
  • RSA certification and valid driver's licence required
