The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is looking for a dedicated
Rollingstock Supervisor
to join the Transperth Train Operations team in a full-time, permanent role.

Reporting to the Maintenance and Projects Superintendent, you'll play a key role in overseeing the coordination, control, and compliance of technical and safety-critical trade activities involved in the maintenance of PTA's rollingstock assets.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure all rollingstock maintenance activities meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including inspections, record-keeping, and issuing work permits for electrical systems.
  • Lead and manage a team of 12 direct reports, including 4 Mechanical Rollingstock Technicians, 4 Electrical Rollingstock Technicians, and 4 Rollingstock Technician Apprentices, ensuring effective supervision, development, and performance management.
  • Take responsibility for the effective deployment of maintenance team resources, including managing rosters, mentoring staff, and coordinating both routine and complex maintenance activities, with oversight of contractors and depot operations.
  • Assist in scheduling and planning of rail vehicle maintenance to meet operational requirements, ensuring optimal resource deployment and workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (e.g. EMU, Ellipse), including labour hours, materials usage, and inspection data to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on maintenance schedules, contribute to updating procedures, and provide regular performance and safety briefings to drive ongoing improvement.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Hold a WA A Grade Electrical Licence or Mechanical Trade qualification, with at least 12 months' experience in maintaining and overhauling safety-critical systems on passenger rail vehicles such as the Prospector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the inspection, fault finding and maintenance of ELV, LV and HV electrical systems, air conditioning, braking, door control, transmission, and heavy components such as wheelsets, bogies, HVACs and engines.
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop technical teams, ensuring maintenance schedules are met while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and coordination skills, with the ability to communicate effectively, prioritise tasks, and collaborate across teams to support operational goals.
  • Ability to work shift rosters, hold a current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence and National Police Clearance, meet medical fitness standards, and complete required competency assessments within probation.
