About Palladium
Palladium is a global leader in the design, development, and delivery of Positive Impact – the intentional creation of enduring social, climate and economic value. We work with governments, businesses, and investors to help solve the world's most pressing challenges. With a team of more than 4,000 employees operating in 90-plus countries and a global network of over 35,000 experts, we help improve economies, societies, the environment, and, most importantly, people's lives.
The Program
The Australia Awards Global Support Mechanism (AAGSM) is an initiative designed to enhance the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's (DFAT) international scholarship program delivery by providing operational, technical and analytical services to DFAT and the broader scholarship delivery network. The AAGSM consists of the Program Support Unit (PSU) - responsible for delivery of operational and technical services and the Research and Analytical Support Unit (RASU) – responsible for delivery of analytical and research services. Palladium delivers the AAGSM PSU and cooperates with DFAT to ensure effective functioning with the RASU.
The Role
The Senior Case Manager plays a vital role in upholding DFAT's responsibilities for effective stewardship of Commonwealth resources, with a focus on compliance and resource management. This position leads the assessment, analysis, and resolution of complex, compliance-driven cases, with a strong focus on debt management and resource accountability across DFAT-funded programs.
In this role, you'll help drive improvements across legacy case management, procedural integrity, and the delivery of high-impact recommendations aligned with DFAT's policy and financial frameworks.
As the Senior Case Manager your primary responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing Commonwealth resources by reviewing complex case data, analysing financial management practices, and conducting detailed assessments against DFAT's debt recovery and accountability policies. This includes identifying high-risk practices and systemic compliance gaps related to the implementation and interpretation of the Australia Awards policy handbook.
Managing debt cases by assessing legacy and current files for alignment with DFAT's recovery framework, drafting strategic recommendations for resolution, and liaising with finance, legal, and program teams on recoveries, write-offs, and remediation actions.Reviewing compliance by investigating breaches of financial obligations or contract conditions, collecting and analysing documentation, engaging with stakeholders, and building comprehensive case files—all while ensuring procedural fairness and due diligence. - Advising on compliance measures and resource controls across programs and departments, recommending policy changes and protocol adjustments to mitigate future risks, and supporting the integration of a strong compliance culture within delivery teams.
- Designing secure and consistent practices for compliance, case tracking, documentation, and resolution pathways in collaboration with the Business Services team, while working closely with DFAT internal teams—including finance, legal, Desks, and Posts—to manage sensitive debt cases with clear reporting lines and defined stakeholder responsibilities.
- Preparing concise reports and briefing notes for senior decision-makers, delivering policy-informed advice on corrective actions and recovery strategies, and contributing to cross-program learning through insights drawn from case analysis.
- Travelling domestically and internationally as needed to conduct on-ground case assessments and follow up on financial audits
About you
Leveraging your strengths in case coordination, stakeholder engagement, and strategic decision-making, you will contribute:
- Tertiary qualifications in Public Administration, Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- An active Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
- Applied knowledge in managing complex cases involving Commonwealth resources, such as debt recovery, financial accountability, or contract compliance within government or similar sectors.
- Proven ability to lead end-to-end case reviews including documentation analysis, stakeholder consultation, and production of clear, actionable findings.
- Skilled in handling sensitive or high-value matters requiring discretion, procedural fairness, and sound judgement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement competences with a track record of building productive, trusted relationships across government, finance, or legal teams.
- Experience working with or within DFAT or comparable government agencies, with a solid understanding of compliance obligations, financial policies, and audit frameworks.
To Apply
Please submit your application online, including your CV and brief cover letter, outlining your suitability in line with the requirements of the position.
