People Business Partner

At ECMS, we're proud to be a
not-for-profit community organisation that's all about making a difference in
the lives of children and families. With 75 kindergartens and early learning
services across Melbourne, our team of 1100+ dedicated people work together to
create joyful and enriching learning experiences with the safeguarding of

Our People Team plays a vital role in shaping the experience of our educators and leaders, ensuring they feel supported to provide exceptional care and education every day.

We're now seeking a People Business Partner who will bring expertise, empathy, and strategic insight to help our people and services thrive. You'll work closely with Area Managers, the Early Childhood Education team, and other internal partners to deliver people-focused initiatives that build capability, engagement and a strong, values-driven culture across ECMS.

This is a newly created role designed to support ECMS's growth. As part of a collaborative team of People Business Partners, you'll manage a portfolio of services, providing day-to-day HR advice and support to leaders. At the same time, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead and contribute to strategic capability projects, influencing leadership role design and building organisational capability. If you're looking for a role where your ideas matter and your work drives meaningful change, this is it.

Why you'll love this role

  • Be part of a leading early childhood education organisation with a strong purpose and values
  • Shape leadership capability and organisational design in a growing organisation
  • Flexible hours, work-from-home options and an outcome-focused culture that supports balance
  • Accelerate your career with high responsibility, involvement in strategic projects and a 2% professional development budget
  • Enjoy 50% childcare discount, 6 weeks paid parental leave, and access to hundreds of retail and lifestyle discounts

What will you do?

  • Provide expert HR advice and guidance on all aspects of the employee lifecycle
  • Partner with leaders to build capability and embed a thriving, high-performing culture
  • Coach and influence leaders to create an engaged, values-driven environment
  • Lead and contribute to projects that shape ECMS's people strategy and strengthen organisational capability
  • Support workforce planning, role design, and organisational change initiatives
  • Lead complex employee and industrial relations matters, including investigations and performance management
  • Manage WorkCover and non-work-related injury processes

More about you

  • Significant experience in HR business partnering, with strong ER/IR knowledge
  • A relevant qualification in Human Resources (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience interpreting EBAs, Modern Awards, and managing complex employee relations matters
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills with leaders at all levels
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and ability to work independently
  • Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and RTW Coordinator training
  • Experience in the early childhood or not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential — what matters most is your alignment with our purpose and values

ECMS is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. Successful
