About the Role

We're seeking a Data Engineer to join a forward-thinking, 12-month transformation initiative based in Perth. You'll be part of a dynamic team focused on improving processes, driving efficiencies, and enabling data-driven decisions across Procurement Services, Category Management, and Global Projects.

In this hands-on position, you'll work with large datasets, design and optimise scalable data models, and provide actionable insights that guide category strategies, risk management, and supply chain performance. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex data into meaningful recommendations, ensuring analytics is accessible, accurate, and impactful.

You Should Have

  • Advanced skills in SQL, Snowflake, and Power Query
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
  • Understanding of modern data architectures, databases, data warehousing, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with data governance/cataloguing tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview)
  • Knowledge of big data technologies and exposure to machine learning techniques
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills with excellent problem-solving ability
  • Skilled in Python, R, or similar statistical programming languages (desirable)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively with ambiguity, and adapt to changing needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand processes, systems, and data across Procurement Services, Category Management, and Global Projects
  • Provide analytics and insights critical to category strategies, opportunity identification, and risk management
  • Design, build, and optimise scalable data models within Snowflake; develop advanced SQL queries to support analytics use cases
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune platform performance to ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-effective data operations
  • Use agile methodology to manage multiple projects and tight timeframes
  • Build and maintain automated data pipelines
  • Maintain and govern the enterprise data catalogue to ensure data assets are well-documented, accurate, and accessible
  • Engage key stakeholders to understand their business needs, conduct analysis, and present recommendations and insights
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings effectively
