About The Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference in early childhood health? The State-wide Infant Screening – Hearing (SWISH) Program plays a critical role in identifying hearing concerns in newborns, helping families access the support they need as early as possible.
We are seeking a dedicated Newborn Hearing Screening Technician to join our team in the Southern Hunter New England Local HealthDistrict(HNELHD). This vital role involves conducting hearing screenings for newborn babies—helping detect potential hearing issues before they leave hospital or within their first month of life.
As a Newborn Hearing Screening Technician, you will:
- Perform hearing screenings using Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) technology
- Work across hospital maternity wards, special care nurseries, and community clinic settings
- Provide clear information, reassurance, and support to families during screening
- Ensure accurate documentation and follow clinical protocols consistently
- Contribute to a supportive and collaborative team environment
This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your work supports early detection and intervention—giving infants the best chance at developing strong communication and language skills.
