About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a leading financial services organisation undergoing major transformation.

You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the product roadmap, ensuring compliance with legislative and trustee requirements, and guiding the delivery of business and technology initiatives across both Agile and waterfall environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Product Owner looking to step up into a complex, enterprise environment and directly influence strategic outcomes for members, trustees, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product backlog, prioritising enhancements, compliance changes, and defect resolutions.
  • Translate legislative and trustee requirements into actionable business and technical deliverables.
  • Define and maintain the product roadmap aligned with strategic and regulatory priorities.
  • Collaborate with delivery leads, business analysts, architects, vendors, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery across Agile and waterfall streams.
  • Manage product risks, compliance obligations, and member impact assessments.
  • Maintain oversight of key systems and ensure operational arrangements remain compliant and fit-for-purpose.
  • Prepare and deliver clear communication to stakeholders, including trustees, risk, legal, and technology teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Product Owner delivering initiatives across both business and technology.
  • Strong domain expertise in superannuation and/or life insurance (product rules, member outcomes, compliance).
  • Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks governing superannuation and insurance products.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence diverse stakeholder groups, including executives, trustees, operations, and vendors.
  • Skilled in writing detailed business requirements, mapping rules, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Experience overseeing systems, coordinating BAU activities, and managing delivery across hybrid (Agile/Waterfall) environments.
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills.

Desirable / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working on acquisition or migration projects (e.g. legacy product transitions).
  • Exposure to trustee governance and superannuation trustee obligations.
  • Familiarity with superannuation administration systems and policy platforms.
  • SQL or data mapping experience for migration, reconciliation, or validation tasks.
  • Change management experience (e.g. PROSCI certification).
  • Vendor management and third-party administrator coordination experience.
