So many lives. So many ways. One you.

50,000 lives and counting.

That's how many South Australians our people support each year.

As one of the state's leading not-for-profits, we're making a meaningful impact at scale. From foster care to aged care and everything in between, our services are as diverse as the people and communities we serve - and we're growing our reach for the future.

It takes a special kind of person to work in this sector. Someone with real compassion and care. Could that person be you?

Join our Foster Care team as an Aboriginal Cultural Practitioner, and be part of something bigger.

In accordance with AnglicareSA's Aboriginal Employment Strategy and pursuant to s. 65 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 SA, and s. 8 of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975, applications are invited from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

What you'll do

As an Aboriginal Cultural Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting First Nations children and young people to remain deeply connected to their culture while in foster care. You will partner with members of our Foster Care team to deliver advocacy, cultural advice, and work closely with non-First Nations carers to build their cultural capability and embed culturally safe environments.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the lives of children and families through culturally centred practice, education, and engagement. You will be part of a team that values diversity, supports hybrid working arrangements, and offers growth opportunities.

As you will be working across our Northern & Central Foster Care team it is a requirement to spend at least one day per week at Hindmarsh & Elizabeth.

You'll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:

● Providing outreach support to First Nations children and their carers, helping maintain cultural connections

● Upskilling non-First Nations carers to deliver culturally safe and responsive care

● Participating in carer assessments and delivering cultural training alongside team members

● Providing input to the Foster Care program to ensure it meets the needs of First Nations families

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

● Identify as First Nations (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) and acceptance within your community

● A strong understanding of cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and child-centred practice

● Ability to form meaningful connections and apply a teaching lens to your work

● Willingness to complete relevant qualifications within 6 months of employment, if not already held

We would also love you to have:

● Case Management experience, particularly in child protection or community services

● An understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles
