Job Description

Viva Energy Australia is seeking a seasoned technology leader to take charge of our commercial technology operations and strategic project delivery. As the Head of Technology Commercial and Projects, you'll play a critical role in shaping the organisation's technology landscape leading high-impact initiatives that drive innovation, efficiency, and measurable business value.

This is a senior leadership role with broad accountability across project execution, commercial management, governance, and people strategy. You'll work closely with executive stakeholders to ensure technology investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver tangible outcomes

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

• Lead the delivery of enterprise-wide technology projects aligned to business goals.
• Make high-impact decisions on project prioritisation, resource allocation, and vendor selection.
• Drive continuous improvement in project methodologies and commercial practices.

Commercial & Financial Oversight

• Negotiate and manage complex commercial agreements, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
• Oversee software license management and ensure compliance with financial controls and budgetary limits.
• Own and manage the IT risk register, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.

Governance & Enablement

• Define and enforce governance frameworks for project delivery and commercial operations.
• Ensure technology initiatives enable business growth, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.

People & Performance

• Lead the technology people strategy, managing headcount, contingent workforce, and team engagement.
• Build and develop high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across technology functions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years' experience in technology leadership, project delivery, and commercial management.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional technology programs.
• Strong experience managing vendor contracts, license agreements, and procurement.
• Deep understanding of project management methodologies and change management.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including executive-level influence.
