Tasmanian Quality Meats is a family-owned business operating in Northern Tasmania. We have been in the meat processing industry for over 20 years and provide our award-winning products to local Australian suppliers and overseas markets. We are nationally recognised as the leading provider of top-quality Tasmanian lamb products.

We have a well-established site that has recently undergone multiple expansions and upgrades to become a state-of-the-art processing facility. These new facilities provide our workers with the comfort of developing long-term careers in a great working environment.

The Job:

Tasmanian Quality Meats has positions available on a casual basis performing various labouring positions around our boning room, slaughter floor and offal rooms. These positions will involve packing meat into bags or boxes, basic knife duties, pushing carcasses through chillers, packing and stacking of boxes into chillers and freezers, operating basic equipment and other various tasks around the site as required.

These casual positions available starting at $31.75, up to $33.74 per hour in accordance with the Meat Industry Award 2020. There will be opportunities to earn more through overtime and as you advance into senior positions. Working hours will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required from time to time. Training will be provided for all our roles, as well as opportunities for longer terms of employment as you gain experience in the meat industry.

The positions will require a good level of fitness and strength, as well as literacy and numeracy skills. Candidates must be able to work within a team environment and have reliable transportation. To be offered a position, you will need to participate in a medical assessment and have full working rights within Australia. We are looking for candidates who can start immediately.
