Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Toyota Finance Australia Full time $104,000 - $130,878 per year

Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) is the country's largest automotive financier.  Our past gives us credibility and knowledge. But it's what the future holds, and how we can make the world a better place, that excites us. It's not just about technology but what it can do for people.

In Australia there are two separate businesses: Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) and Toyota Finance Australia (TFA).  While we work closely together, TMCA focuses on vehicles and here at Toyota Finance Australia our priority is to provide finance, insurance and fleet management.

This role is based in our Head Office, Grosvenor Place, Sydney.  The office is within walking distance from the train station.  There are plenty of options for lunch and catching up with colleagues or friends after work.

What you'll contribute to

The Lead Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping and uplifting business analysis practices within Toyota Finance Australia (TFA). This role provides people leadership and strategic business analysis support across a specific domain, ensuring the consistent application of BA standards and driving the quality of BA outcomes on complex programs and initiatives.

Acting as a trusted partner to Product Management, Domain Owners, Architecture, Portfolio stakeholders, and senior leaders, you will influence roadmaps and contribute to the successful delivery of strategic initiatives. Guided by the Practice Manager, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor Business Analysts and Senior BAs within your domain, supporting performance development, career growth, and capability uplift
  • Ensure consistent BA standards are embedded across initiatives, driving high-quality business requirements and traceability from Epics to Features to User Stories
  • Contribute hands-on as a Senior BA on complex and strategic initiatives when required, balancing leadership responsibilities with direct delivery impact
  • Align domain delivery to organisational strategy and Agile ways of working, supporting scaled Agile practices like PI Planning and cross-team dependency management
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing while driving customer-focused outcomes, risk and compliance alignment, and measurable business value

By combining people leadership, practice uplift, and hands-on delivery, this role enables TFA to deliver customer outcomes faster, maintain consistent standards, and shape a high-performing BA community.

How you'll make an impact

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Provide leadership across business analysis activities at the portfolio and domain levels
  • Partner with Domain Owners, Product Management, Architecture, and Portfolio stakeholders to shape and prioritise Epics and Features aligned to strategic objectives
  • Contribute to portfolio planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation to enable seamless delivery of value

People & Capability Development

  • Line manage, coach, and mentor BAs and Senior BAs within the domain, focusing on performance development, career growth, and capability uplift
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement, building a thriving BA community

Hands-on BA Delivery

  • Contribute hands-on as a Senior BA on complex and strategic initiatives when required, balancing leadership with delivery
  • Lead requirements elicitation, analysis, and solution alignment for high-impact initiatives
  • Oversee the definition, refinement, and traceability of Epics, Features, and User Stories to ensure alignment with business goals and architectural direction
  • Drive consistency and quality in documentation, acceptance criteria, and customer-focused outcomes

Agile Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Support scaled Agile delivery through PI Planning, backlog readiness, and cross-team dependency management
  • Enable a smooth flow of value by proactively resolving impediments and ensuring initiatives align with strategic priorities
  • Drive continuous exploration through customer feedback loops, innovation spikes, and lean experimentation
  • Support the measurement of business outcomes using KPIs, OKRs, and SAFe Lean metrics

Your attributes

  • Degree qualification in Business, Information Systems, IT, Data, or a related field
  • Agile/SAFe certifications strongly preferred (e.g. SAFe POPM/SA, PSM II, PSPO II, PMI-ACP)
  • 8–10+ years of business analysis experience with proven hands-on delivery in Agile or SAFe environments
  • At least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity, including mentoring, coaching, and line-managing BAs and Senior BAs
  • Experience contributing as a Senior BA on complex, cross-domain initiatives while balancing leadership responsibilities
  • Strong background working with Product Management, Domain Owners, Architecture, and Portfolio teams to shape epics, manage dependencies, and ensure alignment
  • Financial services experience highly regarded, particularly with Australian regulatory obligations (privacy, consumer credit, compliance)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills to manage competing priorities and drive alignment
  • Advanced skills in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation with clear traceability from Epics → Features → Stories
  • Technical proficiency in Jira, Confluence, BPMN/UML modelling, and Excel/SQL; experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is desirable
  • A growth mindset with a passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and uplifting BA capability
