ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Parenting Facilitator and a Parenting Facilitator Dads Programs to join the PCWA Northwest Metro team on a part-time basis, working up to 15 hours per week until the end of June 2028. Reporting to the Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering education programs or sessions for parents to develop effective parenting skills.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


• Develop strong relationships with parents and key stakeholders to ensure the service is led by local parenting needs.


• Deliver education programs or sessions for parents to develop effective parenting skills and confidence to meet the needs of their children and to develop supportive and nurturing relationships with their children.


• Facilitate opportunities for parents to connect and interact with other parents to develop positive networks that support their parenting journey.


• Assist parents to access other services to meet their family's needs.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:


• Qualifications and/or significant experience in a relevant field(s) including but not limited to:

  • Child Health Nursing and/or Midwifery
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Psychology – developmental/child
  • Social Work

Demonstrated knowledge of the social and emotional needs of a family.


• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in using, a strength based and holistic approach to work with families with babies and young children.


• Demonstrated broad knowledge of child development and early brain development.


• Knowledge of, and preferably experience working with, Aboriginal families and communities and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) families.


• Demonstrated experience in-group facilitation, including a sound understanding of adult learning principles.


• Capacity to apply reflective practice.


• Proven ability to be a team player in a small team environment.


• High level of communication skills:

  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Group facilitation and effective presentation skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use computer including the use of Word, Excel and databases.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record keeping.


• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload.


• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within program and collaboratively with other programs in Ngala.


• National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months


• Possession of a Working with Children Check Clearance.
