Central West Orana Project

Cobra is part of a consortium including Acciona and Endeavour Energy who have been successful in securing a contract with EnergyCo to design, build, own and operate the first New South Wales Renewable Energy Zone, Central West Orana. The project covers an area of 20,000 sq kms. It will initially entail the deployment of 4.5GW of transmitted electricity, powering 1.8 million homes, which will grow to 6GW by 2038. The project includes 90 kilometres of 500kV transmission lines and 150 kilometres of 330kV transmission lines to connect several renewable energy generation facilities to the grid.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assemble steel tower sections using hand tools and battery impact wrenches.

· Assist in bolted-joint connections, section alignment, and pre-lifting preparation.

· Work alongside crane and telehandler operators to sling and position structural loads.

· Support Lead Riggers during erection of tower legs and back-stays.

· Maintain exclusion zones, rigging gear registers, and ensure safe lifting practices.

· Assist QA teams in torquing and verification of bolted joints.

· Comply with all WHS, lifting and site-safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

· Basic Rigging (RB) or Dogging (DG) High-Risk Work Licence.

· White Card (Construction Induction).

· Demonstrated experience in steel or tower assembly within construction or transmission projects.

· Physically fit and capable of manual handling outdoors.

· Valid Driver's Licence (MR or HR preferred).

Highly Regarded:

· Intermediate and Advanced Rigging (RI) license.

· Telehandler (RTO competency) or Forklift license.

· Working at Heights and First Aid / CPR.

· Transmission Line towers assembly experience.

· Experience assisting with torquing and QA inspections.

Rosters

Rosters will vary depending on project requirements. Candidates should be willing to work on swing-style roster arrangements that may include extended periods on site followed by periods of leave.
