About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Chief Surgical Resident Lead within the Division of Surgical Specialties and Anaesthetics.
In this role you will lead surgical residency training programmes while delivering outstanding patient care in our comprehensive facility. NALHN serves the rapidly growing northern metropolitan region, providing tertiary-level surgical services across multiple specialties including emergency surgery, orthopaedics, and general surgery. You will be part of a growing Local Health Network (LHN) that provides an expanding suite of treatment modalities in contemporary, modern facilities.
As Chief Surgical Resident Lead, you will mentor junior medical staff, coordinate training rotations and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. This role offers direct pathway progression within SA Health's structured career framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- supervise and mentor surgical residents and registrars
- coordinate clinical training programmes and educational activities
- participate in multidisciplinary patient care delivery
- contribute to research and quality assurance projects
- maintain surgical skills across multiple specialties
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Obtained a Specialist Qualification and is registrable as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
