An innovative, purpose-driven Australian organisation undergoing rapid growth is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to provide hands-on financial leadership during a critical period of transformation. With multi-site operations, international trade in commodities, and a pending executive restructure, this short-term engagement requires a seasoned professional who can step in with pace, insight, and authority.

The Opportunity

This is a unique chance to support a values-led business at a pivotal time. The organisation is scaling quickly and seeking high levels of financial experience and agility. The Interim CFO will be responsible for stabilising and strengthening core financial operations, addressing immediate governance and reporting gaps, and supporting the executive team in investor and Board-facing activities.

You'll bring structure, credibility, and momentum to a finance function in transition—enabling the business to continue delivering on its operational and strategic priorities while a permanent CFO search is underway.

Key Responsibilities

Immediate Focus

  • Provide stabilising leadership and oversight of the finance function across multiple sites.
  • Improve accuracy, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting and cashflow forecasting.
  • Address and remediate gaps identified in recent external audit/reporting reviews (including financial controls, inventory systems, and supplier finance processes).
Commercial & Strategic Support
  • Support CEO, COO and Board with data-driven decision-making and reporting.
  • Manage banking relationships, cash management, and funding oversight.
  • Advise on capital readiness, including systems and compliance alignment.
Operational Execution
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to internal finance staff.
  • Manage currency policy and forex risk for international trade in commodities.
  • Prepare the business for a seamless handover to the incoming permanent CFO.

Candidate Profile

You are an accomplished senior finance executive, ideally with previous interim or contract CFO experience. Your background spans industrial or manufacturing businesses with operational complexity and high transaction volumes. You are known for being calm under pressure, hands-on in execution, and diplomatic in working within founder-led or transitioning environments.

Key Requirements

  • Proven track record in interim CFO roles (or equivalent).
  • Deep expertise in financial operations, compliance, and control environments.
  • Exposure to private capital, PE, or M&A scenarios.
  • Experience working with inventory-heavy or commodity-linked businesses highly desirable.
  • Immediately available, Sydney-based or able to be on-site at short notice.
