The Role

As a growing practice, we are seeking a new staff member to join us on a casual basis. The role will involve working a minimum of 3 days per week with flexible days and hours. Initially it will be solely based in the office but there is this potential to work from home.

The role will suit an experienced legal secretary/paralegal or alternatively a law student with paralegal experience who wishes to grow with the firm and become a practicing lawyer.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Typing letters and correspondence

  • Preparing court forms

  • Collating documents and evidence for hearings, counsel and expert witnesses

  • Electronic filing of firm documents

  • Filing of court documents

  • Billing/invoicing

  • Opening/closing files

  • Preparing cost agreements

  • Trust accounting

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with the Australian legal system

  • Exposure to litigation and court processes

  • Typing speed and proficiency

  • MS Office software knowledge

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ideally experience with:

    • Xero accounting software

    • Legal practice management software (SILQ)

    • Trust accounting

Rate

Circa $45/hour inclusive of superannuation depending on experience.
