Located on the Victoria Highway, Timber Creek Travellers Rest is 285km west of Katherine and 193km east of the border between the Northern Territory and Western Australia. We provide not only fuel and general supplies, but also home cooked meals for lunch and dinner as well as fresh sandwiches, salads and freshly brewed coffee. We are looking for a Chef/Cook, with a minimum of 2 years' experience, to join our friendly team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking food.
  • Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen, abiding by all Workplace Health, Safety & Hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Maintaining food quality and presentation under pressure.
  • Serving meals to customers when required.
  • Keeping abreast of food trends and seasonal produce available.
  • Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality.
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment.
  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities.
  • Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements.
  • Ensuring all grooming standards are met in relation to personal grooming and uniform presentation.
  • Promptly reporting maintenance and safety issues and ensure they are corrected.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner this is a busy role and requires someone who is reliable, works well under pressure and can lead and supervise a team of people to ensure high quality food is always being served to our customers. You must be able to work well in a team environment. You will also have the following:

  • Minimum AQF Certificate 3 Commercial Cookery;
  • very good food product knowledge; and
  • an understanding of high-level food / catering production.
