Based in Australia, this role plays a key part in maintaining, scaling, and improving our Azure-based infrastructure while helping ensure 24/7 coverage across regions. You'll work closely with a global team to support system reliability, automation, and performance at scale.

About the role
As part of Hexagon's global Cloud Operations team, this role supports our mission to deliver 24/7 coverage across all time zones. you'll take ownership of cloud operations activities focused on Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation. While the role includes some product support (e.g., on-call record management and dispatch systems), the primary focus is technical — ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on, service-oriented environment.
This role offers full remote flexibility. If you prefer a hybrid setup, we also have offices available in Sydney and Melbourne.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot cloud-based infrastructure issues.
- Monitor cloud systems and recommend or implement performance improvements.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain infrastructure through automation tools.
- Execute and maintain SaaS application deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
- Identify and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and operational incidents.
- Scale and optimise databases and cloud-hosted services.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure knowledge sharing and 24/7 coverage.
Skills and Attributes
- Proven problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities, with a hands-on approach to resolving issues.
- Effective time management and conflict resolution skills; expectation setting and prioritisation skills to manage multiple requests and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team.
- Good communication and collaboration abilities, including working with remote teams.
- Skilled in translating technical issues into clear documentation and solutions.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
Qualifications & Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years' experience and tertiary level qualifications in computer science, software engineering or of equivalent.
- Experience in the field of cloud computing, Azure required.
- Azure certifications required.
- Kubernetes experience preferred.
- Working knowledge and proven experience working with at least one scripting or programming language (such as Python, PowerShell, Javascript, or C#).
- Good familiarity with network concepts and topics (such as domains, directories, DNS, HTTPS, firewalls, proxies, or load-balancing).
