Strathpine Aged Care is currently seeking Cooks to join our team on a full-time basis.

About the Role

The Cook will be responsible for ensuring the preparation and delivery of quality restaurant style, food service that meets the nutritional needs of our residents. This position will be responsible for performing cooking duties as required and as delegated by the Head Chef to ensure that the food produced complies with current food safety and HACCP principles, is as per the set menu, nutritionally balanced and of the highest quality whilst remaining within approved budget.

The Cook will also be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assisting the Head Chef to ensure that front of house employees perform effectively and provide high quality waiting service for the residents.
  • Ensure that the food produced is as per the set menu and according to individual resident's dietary/specialised nutritional requirements and or known food allergens and tolerances.
  • Comply with company policy and HACCP Food Safety Standards including wearing of designated PPE when preparing and serving food.
  • Ensure that HACCP critical control points are reviewed at set times of the day. Any non-compliance is immediately reported to the Head Chef and Facility Manager and is immediately rectified.
  • Assist Head Chef to coordinate the catering staffing requirements in line with the agreed budget to ensure an effective food service delivery to residents.
  • In consultation with the Head Chef contribute to the development of the food safety.
  • Ensure that all food safety audits/documentation is correctly completed and recorded as per the required schedule.

About you

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Sound knowledge and experience with HACCP and Food Safety implementation and review.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven skills in a similar role in the aged care sector.
  • Sound working knowledge of food texture modification and dietary requirements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
