**_About the role:_**
Northcott is looking for Disability Support Workers to join our QLD programs on a casual basis.
We are looking for friendly, welcoming support workers who are passionate about helping people and are up for adventure and trying new things as we expand our programs at our Strathpine & Darra centre’s.
Reporting to the Coordinator, this role would be suited to those with a genuine desire to promote the independence and inclusion in society of people with disability or developmental delay as well as a desire to support individuals to have a voice, choice, and exercise control over their own lives to achieve their individual goals.
Our programs assist young people to learn social skills, independent living skills including cooking and other life skills training, with plenty of focus on creativity and wellbeing too.
There are a variety of shifts available including 9am to 3pm as well as hours for activities that may run outside these time frames. These programs run Monday to Thursday each week.
**_ Key Responsibilities:_**
- Develop and drive engaging programs that help customers achieve their goals and dreams.
- Support our customers to participate in social, recreation and skills development programs.
- Provide personal care and manual handling assistance where required.
- Be a champion for our customers and support them to achieve their goals and independence.

Key Requirements:_**
- Minimum Cert III in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR.
- Current drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Hold a valid QLD Blue Card & NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module training.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and practice.
- Capacity to assist in all duties and be confident to do so autonomously.
- General computer skills.
- A high level of energy & enthusiasm towards the work you do.
- Available for immediate start/ to commence at a short notice.
**_ Types of duties may include:_**
- Supporting clients to develop and maintain independence.
- Support clients to achieve personal goals through community and social participation.
- Support clients in every day skills such as cooking, gardening, gym and fitness, travel training and money management.
- Understanding and implementing mealtime management plans and positive behaviour support plans.
- Assisting clients in the community such as going to concerts, theme parks, out for lunch, bowling and more.
- Supporting clients with toileting.
