Job Description
BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.
The Opportunity
Orrcon Steel is looking for a Customer Service Officer in our Albany branch. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally
recognised brands. This opportunity welcomes someone with a hands-on approach and a sales-driven mindset to be the friendly face and voice for a mix of phone, email, and walk-in customers, ready to provide practical advice and support.
But this isn't just a desk job — we're after a true all-rounder and team player. Someone who can drive sales, chase up leads, and build solid relationships, while also being ready to roll up their sleeves and pitch in wherever it's needed. If there's a job to be done, you're on it. If a customer needs a solution, you're already working on it. You'll also keep accurate records and handle data input carefully to make sure orders and customer deliveries are spot on, helping the whole team run smoothly.
What Will You Do?
Supported by an experienced team, you'll take real ownership of your work, you'll
- handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and by email, delivering timely, practical solutions to customers across farming, construction, fabrication, and manufacturing
- prepare accurate quotes and follow up to turn leads into sales
- support external sales reps with local knowledge, customer insights, and hands-on follow-through
- take initiative to solve problems, improve processes, and make the customer experience better every day
- help out with day-to-day branch work — whether that's assisting a customer at the counter or jumping in to back up your team when things get busy
More About You
You'll be keen to play a key part in helping a strong local business keep growing. You'll bring:
- strong communication skills — you're clear, confident, and easy to talk to
- a customer first mindset that means you follow through and close the loop with customers
- someone who enjoys variety, works well under pressure, and can juggle tasks without missing a beat
- a can-do attitude and sense of responsibility — you take pride in doing things right
- comfortable with tech and quick to learn new systems (experience with SAP or similar is a bonus)
