As a Debt Recovery Legal Counsel, you will work within an ambitious, hard-working in-house legal team that partners closely with the wider business. Your work will directly support revenue outcomes and influence commercial decision-making.

You will be supported by senior lawyers with over 40 years of combined experience, offering mentorship and strategic guidance while allowing you to develop confidence and independence.

In addition to deepening your recovery and litigation expertise, you will gain exposure to broader commercial and property matters.

This role offers the technical depth of private practice, combined with the balance, commercial insight and decision-making authority that comes with an in-house position. Accelerated career progression is available for high performers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage debt recovery matters from early resolution through to legal proceedings and enforcement
  • Draft and issue recovery correspondence and court documents
  • Support dispute resolution and settlement negotiations
  • Work closely with finance and credit teams and manage external service providers
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and internal policies

About You

  • Admitted solicitor in Australia
  • 3–5 PQE in debt recovery, litigation or commercial disputes
  • Experience drafting court documents and managing recovery proceedings
  • Commercially minded with a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong communicator with effective negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
