Role: Cloud Platform Principal Officer
Employment Type: Temporary opportunity, duration 24 months

This role sits within the Systems Capability Directorate of Government Technology Platforms.
About the team
You will join a dedicated team of Data Engineers driving a critical data migration initiative as part of a high-impact enterprise program. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, this team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the program.
Your day-to-day
- Create, manage, and maintain SQL Server and Azure SQL databases.
- Implement database backup and recovery strategies.
- Set up Azure Infrastructure configure components.
- Manage Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking.
- Identify and configure network requirements for database connectivity.
- Ensure secure and efficient data transfer between on-premises and cloud environments.
- Set up and manage Azure Data Factory pipelines for data integration and transformation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot ADF pipelines to ensure smooth data flow.
- Performance Monitoring and Issue Resolution.
- Identify performance issues in databases and Azure infrastructure.
- Support the developer by optimising the SQL queries.
- Implement solutions to resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Regularly review and optimize system performance.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience with Azure infrastructure and services.
- In-depth knowledge of Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Experience in managing Azure Virtual Machines.
- Experience in Azure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Experience in managing Azure Resource Groups.
- Experience with Azure Key Vault.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and code management.
- Understanding of Azure network components for server connectivity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Understanding of data security best practices.
- Ability to implement security measures during data migration.
- Knowledge of database management and optimization techniques.
- Ability to work with multiple data source types and different kinds of database.
- Ability to back up and restore databases.
- Ability to import data from various sources.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyse and resolve performance issues.
- Experience with data analysis and validation.
- Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to document processes and create detailed reports.
Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at 149,739 base plus superannuation
