Looking for a Senior Solution Architect with a strong payments background to join a flagship program to integrate payments capabilities from the existing core banking system into a newly launched, modern business banking platform (fully replacing the legacy platform). 

The role will own the payments architecture for this integration layer, designing resilient solutions for instant payments, bulk processing, FX, treasury, SEPA, Faster Payments, SWIFT, ISO 20022, and open banking APIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect secure, high-performance integrations for payments data and workflows from the core banking system into the new business banking app.
  • Design payment-specific integration patterns, including real-time payment APIs, batch processing, payment gateways, and event-driven architectures.
  • Define and implement data mappings, APIs (REST/GraphQL), and messaging solutions (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) for key payment processes such as incoming/outgoing payments, FX, direct debits, and instant payments.
  • Ensure all solutions meet stringent regulatory requirements (PSD2, SEPA, SWIFT, AML/KYC, PCI-DSS) and banking security standards.
  • Collaborate with payments operations, product, engineering, and compliance teams to translate business needs into technical designs.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, performance and latency optimization, and risk assessments for payments flows.
  • Develop POCs and prototypes to validate payment integration approaches.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support for post-go-live monitoring and enhancements.

Essential Requirements
 

  • 8+ years in solution architecture, with 5+ years specializing in payments systems within banking or financial services.
  • Deep expertise in payments architectures, including real-time payments, ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, Faster Payments, and open banking standards.
  • Proven track record integrating core banking or legacy payment systems with modern digital platforms (e.g., Temenos, FIS, Finastra, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of API design (REST/GraphQL), event streaming (Kafka/RabbitMQ), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and microservices.
  • Experience with payment compliance, fraud detection, and high-availability transaction processing.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills and ability to articulate complex payment solutions.
