Job description

Hardi Aged Care is looking for a Head Chef to manage their catering services and team in its Seven Hills facility to provide food and catering services to its residents.

The role of Head Chef includes:

  • Lead, inspire, and manage the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to kitchen staff to ensure high-quality culinary services.
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring that they adhere to high-quality standards and align with dietary guidelines.
  • Supervise the catering team to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in meal preparation.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to accommodate specific dietary requirements and restrictions.
  • Monitor food costs and work within the budget while maintaining the quality and nutritional value of meals.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Implement and enforce proper hygiene practices among kitchen staff.
  • Oversee inventory management at your facility, including stock control, ordering, and efficient use of supplies.
  • Interact with residents in a positive and respectful manner, addressing their preferences and concerns related to meals.
  • Incorporate resident feedback to continually improve the dining experience.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Previous experience in Aged Care is a prerequisite.
  • Sound knowledge of food preparation and presentation techniques with a detailed understanding of specific accreditation requirements, relevant acts, regulations, and codes relating to catering services
  • Ability to work flexibly, display initiative and to learn
  • Special Employment Conditions

Will require a satisfactory National Criminal History Record (Police Check), not more than three years old on employment and that complies with the requirements of the Aged Care Act 1997 prior to commencement of employment.

We are seeking a permanent full-time position for the correct candidate.
