This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.6FTE), 45.6 hours per fortnight.

Why this Role?

Step into the role of Principal Advisor, Occupational Therapy, where you'll lead innovative occupational therapy services and deliver expert guidance to empower curriculum delivery and support students with disability to thrive.

  • Provide leadership and professional supervision at a regional level in the delivery of safe, high-quality effective occupational therapy services.
  • Provide strategic advice on policy development and implementation and needs-based resourcing related to occupational therapy services within the region.
  • Significantly contribute to the development of statewide programs, policies, operational standards and procedures to support occupational therapy services across the state.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct and support occupational therapists and school management teams in the delivery of services to support curriculum delivery and students with disability.
  • Plan and provide clinical supervision and professional development to occupational therapists across the region
  • Provide expert advice on the occupational therapy strategic direction and service priorities for the region, and contribute to the strategic direction and priorities for the state.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration networks with state schools within the region and with other regions
  • Collaborate with regional and statewide clinical supervisors, including attending regional and statewide TANS and senior advisor meetings.

  • The successful applicant will be based within the Far North Region and be attached to one of the regional offices. Alternate base/location arrangements can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Possession of a degree of occupational therapy from a recognised tertiary institution, or other equivalent formal qualifications which, in the opinion of the Director-General, Department of Education or delegate, are acceptable and registration with the Occupational Therapists Board of Queensland.
  • Current registration or the ability to obtain registration prior to commencing employment with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
  • In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, registered health practitioners working within their professional capacity must hold valid registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at all times during their employment for the purpose of satisfying the exemption requirements of the Act.
