We have multiple casual positions available with permanent work for those that are a good fit for our company at our depot based in Gympie Qld.

Tyrenwhit Group runs a fleet of various combinations of tippers that cart our own material or from other quarries to our customers, for our civil projects and developments, and also provides truck hire to several other quarries around Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and Maryborough. We have a number of continuing and upcoming projects that we need drivers for.

The position is Gympie based, but we can base trucks further towards the Sunshine Coast or Maryborough for the right candidate.

On top of just Gympie-based drivers, we are also looking for some drivers that, while being based in and working in Gympie or surrounds, would be willing to occasionally work a roster of 19 on (including travel days), 9 off, in the Surat Basin. The pay rate for this is $60/hr (full-time rate), and provides an opportunity to make a bit extra for those with the flexibility.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ Years Experience in driving and operating an MC/HC vehicle .
  • Truck & Dog experience is favourable.
  • Must be able to competently drive an 18-speed Road Ranger.
  • Must have a Construction Induction Card (White or Blue) or be willing to obtain before start date.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely drive and unload trucks with an awareness of the road rules and regulations and site-specific requirements.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills necessary to follow directions and work programs to complete tasks within set timeframes.
  • Understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and work practices.
  • Must have several valid references in your application.
  • Must have valid Australian work rights including appropriate visa authorisation

Tasks & responsibilities

Reporting to our Operations Manager, you will be jointly accountable for ensuring our customers are satisfied. As customer-facing representatives of our company, we expect you to have a friendly, can-do, solution-focused attitude towards our customers, because service matters to us and no-one ever build a great company without good service

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating the truck in a way that is safe and complies with all of the road and site-specific rules.
  • Being able to competently reverse a truck and dog into bins at concrete plants, landscape yards, and road construction jobs. (We will provide training for those who have not driven a truck and quad before but are experienced MC/HC drivers)
  • Conduct daily prestarts, report any faults, and record daily fuel use through our electronic maintenance management system.
  • Completing electronic delivery dockets every day.
  • Basic maintenance ie. identifying faults, ensuring the truck is being greased correctly by the mechanics (or doing it yourself if you want the hours) and cleaning of truck.
  • Communicate openly and honestly
  • Own your mistakes, and be willing to learn from them
