Tully Sugar is one of Queensland's leading sugar producers, operating an integrated agricultural, milling, and export business in Far North Queensland. About the Role
As the Company Secretary, you will be the organisation's chief governance specialist, providing expert advice to the Board and ensuring the implementation of sound governance practices. You will manage Board and Committee operations, oversee compliance and corporate filings, and ensure the organisation meets its statutory obligations.
This is a key role requiring someone who can work collaboratively across the business, integrating respectfully and effectively with people at all levels. You will support and enhance the organisation's governance, legal and risk frameworks, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency.
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Advising the Board on governance best practice and corporate obligations under the Corporations Act.
- Managing Board and Committee meetings, minutes, action items, and statutory filings.
- Providing legal and compliance support across contracts, insurance, and regulatory matters.
- Supporting the COO and CFO in coordinating risk management processes and reporting.
- Promoting ethical leadership and continuous improvement across governance and compliance systems.
About you
You are an organised, people-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering excellence in governance and corporate compliance. You have the confidence to advise and guide the Board and senior executives while maintaining a calm, diplomatic, and collaborative approach.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, or Governance.
- Graduate membership (or eligibility) with the Governance Institute of Australia or the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
- Proven experience in governance, legal advisory, and contract management, ideally within agribusiness, manufacturing, or export sectors.
- Strong understanding of the Corporations Act 2001, ASIC requirements, and Australian corporate governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to advise Boards and Executives.
- High level of integrity, ethical judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement and compliance.
