An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its team and now hiring an Assembly Supervisor to lead production activities as they scale into full manufacturing.

In this role, you will oversee two growing teams (Composite Assembly and Metallics & Cabling), providing hands-on leadership to a group of technicians. You will be responsible for task allocation, workflow management, and ensuring assembly output meets strict defence quality standards. While this is not a technician role, you will need a strong understanding of assembly processes, particularly in electronics, cabling, and mechanical assemblies, to support your team effectively and drive results.

This is a full-time, Adelaide-based role with excellent access to public transport and parking.

Full relocation is required for interstate candidates; cost assistance is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise two growing assembly teams (composites, metallics & cabling).
  • Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely, high-quality output.
  • Provide hands-on support and problem-solving for technical challenges.
  • Enforce safety, compliance, and quality standards across the production floor.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Report on progress, issues, and resourcing needs to senior management.
  • Liaise with CNC and Quality teams to coordinate production requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an assembly or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, cabling, or mechanical assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly or mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Must be an Australian citizen.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Background in defence or other high-reliability manufacturing industries.
  • Hands-on experience in composites, sheet metal, or electronics assembly.
  • Formal qualifications in manufacturing, engineering, or a related trade.
