Metal Fabricator

Relevant Trade Qualification is essential (Minimum of 3 years post trade experience in Welding and Fabrication)

• read, follow and interpret engineering drawings

• create drawings to duplicate parts

• fabricate parts according to drawings or by copying/duplicating the original part

• dismantling/cutting and removing defective components of the structure (e.g. Shipping Container or Trailer) using hand tools, flame cutting torches or plasma cutter

• repairing and replacing defective components of a structure; fit and assemble metal components

• modification of our transport equipment which will include cutting, shaping, joining and repairing of metal components of shipping Containers, Water Tanks, Trailers, Dollies, Forklifts and other Transport Equipment

• cut, shape, join, heat or hammer metal components to fabricate parts

• clean, grind and smooth welds or cut edges

• occasionally prime and spray paint some parts to match (blend into) the equipment

• operate Forklift to lift Shipping Containers and other general freight and material supplies off and onto trailers at depot

• occasionally deliver modified shipping containers or other general freight to customers with Heavy Rigid Truck

• pick-up ordered materials from suppliers with Heavy Rigid Truck

• stock take at workshop, restocking of nuts, bolts, washers, cutting/grinding/welding materials and supplies, steel and other required materials

• record repairs to equipment in maintenance record system

• housekeeping in workshop and some yard duties

• Complying with the Wanna Lift Group Operations, Policies and Procedures

The candidate will bring:

Excellent communication and time management skills

Fluent English skills

Current Drivers licence (HR Licence preferred)

Forklift Licence (optional)

Experience in Heavy Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance

Welding proficiency

Safe handling and experience of: Manual Hand Tools, Powered Hand Tools, Mig/STICK Welders, Oxy Cutter, Plasma Cutter, Bandsaw, Drill Press, Air Compressor Tools

Computer Literacy
