About This Opportunity 

The Senior Laboratory & Research Technician will play a key role in supporting the Neuroinflammation Laboratory, providing a blend of technical, administrative, and operational support to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the lab.
 

This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator and postdoctoral researchers to support research investigating immune mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases. You'll take the lead on laboratory administration, cell and tissue culture support, and general maintenance, contributing to the overall success and safety of the research environment.
 

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented laboratory professional who enjoys a hands-on role in a collaborative research setting.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Manage laboratory administration, including procurement, inventory systems, and safety documentation.

  • Provide technical support and training in cell and tissue culture techniques.

  • Oversee general lab maintenance, including waste disposal, equipment calibration, and environmental monitoring.

  • Support postdoctoral researchers with histology and molecular biology tasks such as IHC, IF, and sample preparation.

  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and compliance with institutional safety policies and procedures.

  • Contribute to the preparation of media, buffers, and sterile reagents.

About You  

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with a strong foundation in laboratory operations, cell and tissue culture, and molecular biology techniques.

Essential:

  • Degree in biomedical science, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or related field; or equivalent education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory administration, procurement, and safety management.

  • Proficiency in cell and tissue culture, including aseptic technique and cell line maintenance.

  • Familiarity with molecular biology and histology techniques (e.g., IHC, IF, tissue sectioning).

  • Strong understanding of safe laboratory practices and compliance.

  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • Experience with animal tissue processing or preclinical mouse model studies.

  • Competence in microscopy and image analysis software.
