What does the business unit do?

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

Operations

The purpose of the Operations directorate is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

Please note - The role works on a rostered basis. The successful candidate will be required to work outside normal business hours and on weekends. This may include stand-by arrangements.

What will the role do?

The Intelligence and Analytics Officer is responsible for supporting the collection of information on the current and forecast state-wide situation through the observation and monitoring of operational intelligence platforms.

Key tasks include:

• Collection, collation, analysis and organisation of information and data to produce intelligence reports to support decision making within the State Control Centre (SCC) and wider emergency management sector.
• Contribute to the development and production of intelligence in the form of a Common Operating Picture that is relevant and accessible.
• Assist with intelligence briefings, presentations and meetings to influence decision making and inform stakeholders.
• Support the Intelligence and Mapping team.

What skills and knowledge should an Intelligence and Mapping Office have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

• Exposure or knowledge of the intelligence lifecycle, including data sourcing, analysis, storage and management will be well regarded.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements is desirable.
• Training or experience in an appropriate intelligence and/or mapping discipline (such as Strategic Analysis or Geographical Information Systems) will be well regarded.
