We have multiple opportunities available for Training Area Range (TAR) Operators in our Defence division. These are permanent full-time positions based at Robertson Barracks, Northern Territory.

About the role

You will ensure the readiness and functionality of Defence Training Areas.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating contractor tasks for TAR (e.g. land care, cleaning, waste, estate upkeep).
  • Planning, deploying, testing and recovering live fire targets with Defence Units.
  • Managing TAR gates/flags per approved firing schedules.
  • Building and repairing targets using Defence supplies.
  • Conducting non-technical inspections and supporting contractor technical checks.
  • Maintaining TAR readiness (e.g. weed control, facility upkeep).
  • Operating DART, MTR, SMR & new target systems.
  • Managing inventory, stock control & storage.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in planning, placing, testing and recovering range live fire target equipment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various target systems such as DART, MTR, and SMR.
  • Experience in inventory control, stock management, and storage maintenance.
  • Range Officer Accreditation or relevant safety training would be highly regarded.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
