About the Role
The Indigenous Community Liaison Officer (Education) plays a key role in building and nurturing respectful, reciprocal relationships between the College of Medicine and Public Health and Indigenous communities. Acting as a cultural bridge, the officer facilitates meaningful engagement, co-design of student placement opportunities, and ensures cultural protocols are upheld. This position supports students and staff to engage ethically and effectively with communities, championing Indigenous-led approaches. Drawing on strong cultural knowledge, communication, and coordination skills, the officer helps align university initiatives with community priorities. Through this work, the role strengthens trust, builds capacity, and fosters long-term partnerships grounded in mutual respect and shared benefit.

About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Strong understanding of local Indigenous cultures, protocols, governance, and community engagement practices.
Proven ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in culturally safe ways.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
Experience in higher education, health, education, or community development sectors is highly regarded.
