
Junior Representative Basketball Coordinator

The Junior Representative Basketball Coordinator is responsible for leading the development of Southern Districts Basketball Association's (SDBAL) junior representative program including engagement and development of representative players and coaches through to the completion of their U16 representative eligibility. This role strategically supports high-performance initiatives, representative player pathways through to under 18 representative, senior representative and state-level programs, and the professional growth of representative coaches.
Working collaboratively with the Director of Culture and Learning and the Senior Representative Basketball Coordinator, and supported administratively by the Basketball Administration Officer, the Junior Representative Basketball Officer ensures programs deliver optimal outcomes aligned with SDBAL's long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities- Player Development – Lead programs that support athlete growth and progression to state-level competition.
- Coach Development – Deliver training, mentoring, and accreditation pathways for coaches.
- Talent Identification & Pathways – Manage processes to identify talent and build clear pathways from grassroots to state programs.
- Club Development Oversight – Strengthen links between clubs and representative basketball through coach and player initiatives.
- Program & Event Management – Plan and deliver camps, tournaments, and showcase events to high professional standards.
- Stakeholder & Community Engagement – Build strong relationships with players, parents, schools, clubs, and governing bodies.
- Reporting & Administration – Provide reporting, maintain records, and ensure efficient program administration.
- Leadership & Culture – Foster a positive, high-performance culture for athletes, coaches, and staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in player and coach development, high-performance management, and basketball program oversight.
- Basketball Australia Coaching Accreditation (minimum Level 2 required).
- Demonstrated experience managing athlete pathways, talent identification, and representative coaching programs.
- Strong organisational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience liaising with diverse stakeholder groups.

Combination of office-based and on-court duties with regular weekend, morning and evening work.
Travel required for representative competitions and coaching development activities at regional and state levels.
