Exciting temporary 6-month opportunity to Join the Department of Housing and Public Works as a AO7 Principal Integrity Officer promoting integrity and ethical conduct across the organisation. The AO7 Principal Integrity Officer position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations and decision-making adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice.

As an Principal Integrity Officer, you will use your highly developed knowledge of legislation, policies and practices within the Queensland Public Sector to effectively manage and advise on complex and sensitive integrity and/or ethical matters. You will work collaboratively with your team and others in identifying and delivering client centric solutions with mutually beneficial outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage, coordinate and conduct the intake and assessment of complaints for corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures, including:
  • making necessary enquiries
  • liaising with relevant stakeholders
  • identifying risks
  • ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting obligations, and
  • preparing documentation/referrals in response to these complaints.
  • Autonomously, and with limited supervision, manage, coordinate and conduct

high level, complex and sensitive investigations of suspected corrupt conduct and/or public interest disclosures, which may include investigations into the business activities of the department.

  • Provide high level authoritative, strategic advice and support to the department in relation to the following:
  • complex and sensitive complaints of suspected corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures
  • appropriate actions to address suspected corrupt conduct complaints and disclosures
  • delivery, management and coordination of public sector investigations, and
  • protection to disclosers from reprisals.
  • Provide contemporary, high quality integrity advice and services to the department including, but not limited to:
  • conflicts of interest
  • corruption and fraud risks and prevention
  • contact with lobbyists
  • complaint management, and
  • record keeping and mandatory reporting.
  • Prepare correspondence, briefing papers, reports and recommendations regarding investigations, significant complaints and public interest disclosure-related issues, as required.
  • Prepare and deliver education programs and activities aimed at increasing staff awareness in relation to, for example:
  • public sector ethics principles and ethical decision-making
  • management and reporting of corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures
  • identification, disclosure and management of conflicts of interest, and
  • detection and prevention of fraud and corruption.
  • Provide supervision and, where necessary, management of junior staff, including contributing to their professional development.
  • Develop, implement and advise on current and emerging integrity related policies, processes and issues to foster an ethical organisational culture.
  • Develop positive and effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as the Crime and Corruption Commission, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ombudsman and other investigative and oversight authorities to support the delivery of high-quality assessments and the management of complaints.
