The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Estuarine & Coastal Moorings National Coordinator to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the Estuarine & Coastal Moorings National Coordinator is to coordinate the development, implementation, and governance of a standardised national network of estuarine and coastal scientific monitoring moorings supported through the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS).

The role contributes to delivering PIRSA's and IMOS priorities by supporting world-class environmental monitoring systems that underpin the sustainable management of South Australia's and Australia's aquatic and coastal resources, respectively.

The role contributes to achieving SARDI's divisional objectives by building national capacity in ocean observing, ensuring high-quality data delivery, and enabling research and decision-making that supports marine industries, government, and the community.

Special Conditions

• Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
• Opportunity for two years, potential to be extended (subject to funding).
• Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

• Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
• Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
• Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
• You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
• The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
• Periods of time will be spent at sea on small boats and large research vessels.
• The incumbent will be required to contribute to whole-of-agency working groups developing PIRSA policy responses to significant and emerging issues as required.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification(s) in marine science, environmental science, oceanography, or a related discipline.

Remuneration

PO3 - $101,285 min - $107,078 max per annum, plus superannuation
