The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Estuarine & Coastal Moorings National Data Lead to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the Estuarine & Coastal Moorings Data Lead is to coordinate in the development and implementation of data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures, data management guidelines, and operational standards to support the estuarine and coastal mooring programs through the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS).

The role contributes to delivering the agency's priorities by ensuring high-quality oceanographic data streams underpin modelling, analysis, and reporting that inform sustainable management of South Australia's and the nation's marine and coastal environments.

The role contributes to achieving SARDI's divisional objectives by building national capacity in ocean observing, ensuring high-quality data delivery, and enabling research and decision-making that supports marine industries, government, and the community.

Special Conditions

• Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
• Opportunity for two years, potential to be extended (subject to funding).
• Full time opportunity 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

• Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
• Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
• Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
• You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
• The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
• Periods of time will be spent at sea on small boats and large research vessels.
• The incumbent will be required to contribute to whole-of-agency working groups developing PIRSA policy responses to significant and emerging issues as required.

Qualifications

Essential

• Postgraduate qualification(s) in marine science, oceanography, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.

Desirable

• PhD in in marine science with a major in oceanography or related discipline.

Remuneration

PO3 - $101,285 min - $107,078 max per annum, plus superannuation
